Sacha Baron Cohen started out as a fashion model before making his television debut in the British soap opera ‘EastEnders’ in 1988. After making small appearances in television films and shows like ‘Jack and Jeremy's Police 4’ (1995), ‘Pump TV’ (1995), ‘F2F’ (1996-1997), and ‘The 11 O'Clock Show’ (1998-1999), Cohen launched his own television series ‘Da Ali G Show’ in 2000. The series met with immense success and earned Cohen 2 ‘British Academy Television Awards.’ The series aired its final episode in October 2004.
He made his film debut in the 2000 British satirical drama ‘The Jolly Boys' Last Stand’ directed by Chris Payne. He went on to star in films like ‘Ali G Indahouse’ (2002), ‘Spyz’ (2003), and ‘Madagascar’ (2005). The year 2006 saw the release of her mockumentary comedy film ‘Borat’ where Cohen played the role of ‘Borat Sagdiyev,’ a fictional Kazakh journalist. He bagged several awards for his performance in the film, including the ‘Golden Globe Award’ and the ‘Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award.’ He was next seen in films like ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ (2007), ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ (2008), ‘Brüno’ (2009), and ‘Hugo’ (2011).
In 2012, Cohen starred as ‘Admiral General/Prime Minister Haffaz Aladeen/Allison Burger’ in the political satire comedy film ‘The Dictator.’ The film opened to mixed reviews and was a box office success. That same year, he was also seen in the epic period musical film ‘Les Misérables,’ which became a massive hit at the box office. In 2020, he starred in the American historical legal drama film ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7.’ He played the role of ‘Abbie Hoffman’ which earned him the ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.’
