Russell Crowe is a prolific actor, film producer and musician from New Zealand who gained international fame for portraying the Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius in Ridley Scott's historical-epic 'Gladiator' (2000), for which he won an 'Academy Award' among other awards and accolades. Some of his other best roles include tobacco firm whistle blower Jeffrey Wigand in the drama film 'The Insider' (1999) – which earned him five awards and seven nominations as best actor, and Nobel Prize winning mathematician John F. Nash in the biopic 'A Beautiful Mind' (2001) – which won him a 'BAFTA', a 'Golden Globe' and a 'Screen Actors Guild Award'.
His early appearances include the Australian television soap opera 'Neighbours' (1987) and the Australian feature films 'The Crossing' (1990) and 'Blood Oath' (1990). In the following years, he went on to appear in many successful movies like 'Romper Stomper' (1992), 'L.A.
