Robert Mitchum Filmography
Robert Mitchum was an American actor, poet, author, singer and composer known mostly for his noir genre of films that he acted in. Starting his career as a writer, he went on to appear in films in the early 40s and during some early formative years of his career, he played villains in several B-grade movies such as ‘Riders of the Deadline’, ‘Till the End of Time’, ‘Undercurrent’, ‘Sabotage’ and ‘Desire Me’. He did many films in the 40s without any significant success as he wasn’t quite able to break himself out of the stereotypical villain’s role. But the 50s were another story altogether, and with the advent of noir style of filmmaking, Robert became the filmmakers’ favorite actor to go to.
He starred in some notable films such as ‘The Red Pony’, ‘Where Danger Lives’, ‘Bandido’, ‘The Longest Day’, ‘The Misfits’ and ‘Rio Bravo’. As his popularity rose, he became one of the most loved leading men in Hollywood and went on to do some more successful films in later part of his career, such as ‘Woman of Desire’, ‘Cape Fear’ and ‘Dead Man’.
His career also saw some colossal failures in form of films such as ‘The Ambassador’, ‘Midway’ and ‘Night Kill’.
