Peter Lorre Filmography
Peter Lorre was a Hungarian-born American actor. He ran away from home to work as a clerk in Vienna, Austria, where he started training as a stage actor. He travelled to Zurich to make his stage debut. He travelled for a long time between Germany, Austria and Switzerland, before he was finally cast as ‘Hans Backert,’ the serial killer in German-thriller ‘M’ (1931). The film brought him a lot of international fame. He made his English-film debut in ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much,’ in 1934, and never looked back after that. He then moved to Hollywood and appeared in several films, including ‘Mad Love (1935), ‘Crime and Punishment’ (1935) and ‘Secret Agent’ (1936) before he starred in a series of ‘Mr. Moto’ films, and established his career. Some of his many films are ‘The Maltese Falcon’ (1941), ‘Casablanca’ (1942), and ‘Muscle Beach Party’ (1964).
