Kyra Sedgwick made her screen debut in the American television soap opera ‘Another World’ in 1982. She played the role of ‘Julia Shearer’ and remained a part of the show until 1983. She made her silver screen debut in the 1985 American drama film ‘War and Love’ directed by Moshé Mizrahi. In 1986, she starred as ‘Tess Brock’ in the Daryl Duke-directed adventure drama film, ‘Tai-Pan.’ The film was poorly received by critics and was a commercial failure. She was next seen in films like ‘Kansas’ (1988), ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ (1989), ‘Mr. and Mrs. Bridge’ (1990), ‘Pyrates’ (1991), ‘Singles’ (1992), ‘Heart and Souls’ (1993), ‘Murder in the First’ (1995), ‘Something to Talk About’ (1995), ‘Phenomenon’ (1996), ‘Critical Care’ (1997), ‘Montana’ (1998), ‘What's Cooking?’ (2000), ‘Personal Velocity: Three Portraits’ (2002), ‘Secondhand Lions’ (2003), ‘Behind the Red Door’ (2003), and ‘Cavedweller’ (2004). In 2005, she joined the main cast of the American television police procedural series ‘The Closer’ created by James Duff, Michael M. Robin, and Greer Shephard. She portrayed Kyra Sedgwick in the series which earned her several awards including the ‘Golden Globe Award’ and ‘Primetime Emmy Award.’ The series spawned 7 seasons before going off-air in 2012.Â
