This biographical film focuses on the rise of Jordan Belfort from an entry-level employee at a brokerage firm to founding his own firm that engaged in massive security scams involving widespread corruption on Wall Street. However, his decadent lifestyle of sex, drugs and excess led to his downfall by attracting the attention of the FBI.

The movie is adapted from a 1999 book -The Master of Disguise – by the CIA exfiltration specialist, Tony Mendez and a 2007 article by Joshuah Bearman. Depicting true events, the movie follows Mendez, as he devises an ingenious but risky plan to rescue six Americans from Tehran in 1979 by posing as a film crew unit scouting for location in Iran for a science-fiction film.  

Lee Chandler, a loner who works as a janitor in Quincy, is forced to return to his hometown Manchester-by-the-Sea following his brother's sudden death. He is shocked to learn that he is now the sole guardian of his teenager nephew Patrick and is further tormented by memories of past tragedies as the funeral gets delayed.
