Greer Garson was a British-American actress, best known for playing ‘Mrs. Kay Miniver’ in the film ‘Mrs. Miniver’ (1942). She won the ‘Academy Award’ for Best Actress’ for this role. She started her career as a stage actress, and made her screen debut in a TV production of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ (1937). She made her film debut in ‘Goodbye, Mr. Chips’ in 1938. She was nominated for an ‘Academy Award’ for ‘Best Actress’ for her role in the film. Garson received seven ‘Academy Award’ nominations under ‘Best Actress’ for ‘Blossoms in the Dust’ (1941), ‘Madame Curie’ (1943), ‘Mrs. Parkington’ (1944), ‘The Valley of Decision’ (1945), and ‘Sunrise at Campobello’ (1960). She won ‘Golden Globe’ for ‘Best Actress’ for ‘Sunrise at Campobello.’ She also appeared in TV shows, such as ‘The Virginian’ (1970) and ‘The Love Boat’ (1982). She was one of the top American actresses from 1942 to 1946.
