Dan Aykroyd Filmography
Dan Aykroyd is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, producer, screenwriter, musician who was an original cast of 'Saturday Night Live' (1975–1979). He wrote and starred in the 'SNL' musical sketch 'The Blues Brothers', which was later turned into an actual performing band and was also the basis for the highly successful film of the same name in 1980. He also wrote and starred in the top grossing supernatural comedy film 'Ghostbusters' (1984) and its sequel 'Ghostbusters II' (1989).
He did a short role on the television series 'Coming Up Rosie' (1975), and starred in the Steven Spielberg comedy '1941' (1979), which was a box-office failure. Among his other early appearances, 'Neighbors' (1981), 'Trading Places' (1983), 'Spies Like Us' (1985) and 'Dragnet' (1987) were successful movies. However, his directorial debut 'Nothing but Trouble' (1991) was a critical and commercial failure, as was most of his films from the decade except 'Tommy Boy' (1995) and 'Grosse Pointe Blank' (1997). He had small roles in 'Pearl Harbor' (2001) and '50 First Dates' (2004).
On television, he created the animated-series 'The Real Ghostbusters' (1985-1991), hosted the sci-fi drama-series 'Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal' (1996-2000) and starred on the sitcom 'Soul Man' (1997).
