Christopher Lee Filmography
Christopher Lee was an English character actor who became popular as a villain for portraying characters like Frankenstein’s monster and Count Dracula in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' (1957) and 'Dracula' (1958), made by legendary horror production company Hammer. While his portrayal of Dracula is still fresh in popular culture, some of his other best roles include Francisco Scaramanga in the James Bond film 'The Man with the Golden Gun' (1974), Saruman in 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy (2001-2003) and 'The Hobbit' trilogy (2012-2014), and Count Dooku in two 'Star Wars' films from the prequel trilogy (2002 & 2005). By his own account however, his best role is portraying Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the biopic 'Jinnah' (1998), and his best film is the British horror film 'The Wicker Man' (1973).
He also had a diverse filmography outside those big budget franchises; he appeared in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Moulin Rouge’ (1952), in Hammer’s ‘The Mummy’ (1959), played Sir Henry Baskerville in ‘The hound of the Baskervilles’ (1959), acted in the 'Fu Manchu' films (1965-69), ‘The Devil rides out’ (1967), and ‘Three musketeers’ (1973). He recently appeared in six Tim Burton movies and in Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo' (2011).
