Betty Grable, also known as Elizabeth Ruth Grable, was a popular American actress, dancer, and singer who was prominent in the 1930s and 1940s. She is noted for her high-grossing films that made her among the most successful actors of her period. She began her career in film with appearances in several B movies. She was recognized by major production houses after starring in the musical ‘DuBarry Was a Lady’. Her formal debut was with the movie ‘Down Argentine Way’, which became a hit commercially and critically. Since then, she starred in many successful movies, including ‘Mother Wore Tights’, ‘When My Baby Smiles at Me’ and ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’. These movies were the top-grossing movies at the box office.
Grable’s success soared high in her initial career and sobered down in her final active roles. Her performances in ‘The Shocking Miss Pilgrim’, ‘That Lady in Ermine’ and ‘The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend’ were deemed mediocre.
