Anne Bancroft Filmography
Anne Bancroft was an American actor, singer, director and screenwriter, also known to be one of the very few female method actors in the industry. She started her acting career in the early 50s with a supporting role in the film ‘Dont Bother to Knock’ and carried on with that until the end of 50s with films such as ‘The Raid’, ‘Gorilla at Large’, ‘Nightfall’ and ‘The Restless Breed’.
Her career turned around with the film ‘The Miracle Worker’, where she won many major awards for her leading role. That success streak continued with the next film ‘The Pumpkin Eater’ and this consecutive commercial and critical success established her as one of the major leading actresses of her time.
After that, there were some successful films, such as ‘The Graduate’, ‘The Turning Point’, ‘The Agnes of God’, ‘How to make an American Quilt’, ‘Heartbreakers’, ‘Malice’ and ‘The Sunchaser’. Her glorious film career was perfectly complemented by her television roles in series’ such as ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ and ‘Curb your Enthusiasm’. Among all her best roles, there were a few that didn’t translate into as much success as most of her roles and she faced failures in films such as ‘The Kid from Left Field’ and ‘The Naked Street’.
