Andy Kaufman was an American comedian, actor, and performer. He started performing for friends and family at the age of 7. He was soon discovered by Bud Freidman, the owner of ‘Improvisation comedy club,’ and became a popular performer. In 1975, he was invited by ‘Saturday Night Live’ to perform a segment on the show. He is best known for playing ‘Latka Gravas’ on the hit television show ‘Taxi’ from 1978 to1983. He is also known for playing various characters on ‘Late Night with David Letterman’ (1982-1993). He also made appearances in films such as ‘God Told Me To’ (1976), ‘Heartbeeps’ (1981), and ‘My Breakfast with Blassie’ (1983). Andy was known to take his acts to a level where the lines between reality and imagination seemed hazy to his audience, so much so that he is believed to have faked his own death as a grand hoax.
