Venezuelan Latin Grammy singer-songwriter Franco De Vita gained-attention with the album Franco De Vita that included Spanish-language hits like Somos Tres and Un Buen Perdedor. Moving on, he released other notable albums like Extranjero, a song of which, No Basta garnered critical-acclaim and reached atop the Billboard Latin music charts in the US and bagged an MTV Video Music Award.
Venezuelan singer-musician-composer Simón Díaz was most-noted for his efforts in recovering and popularizing Venezuelan music. Several of his works have been adapted by symphonies and choral ensembles and performed by different artists. He also promoted Venezuelan music through twelve television shows. It was announced in 2008 that Díaz would be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Latin Grammy Awards.
