Leslie Mann is an American actress who is known for her performances in comedic films. Mann had an interest in acting right from the time she was a teenager. In fact, she appeared in commercials of various brands as a teenager. Her love for acting was the reason why she did not complete her college education and instead trained as an actor in order to become a professional. Mann auditioned for plenty of roles and it was in 1995 that she got her first break when she was chosen to be part of the movie ‘The Cable Guy.’ Since then, she has gone from strength to strength as an actress. Although she has acted in movies of various genres, she has primarily carved a niche for herself in the romantic comedy genre. Her 2007 film ‘Knocked Up’ is an example of what she can bring to the table as far as comic timing is concerned. Leslie Mann was born on 26 March 1972, in San Francisco, California, USA, to single mother Janet Mann. Her father had left her mother before she was born and she does not know him at all. Mann’s mother Janet, who worked as a real estate agent, raised her.
The family moved to Newport Beach, California at some point during her childhood. Leslie Mann grew up in Newport Beach. She studied at the ‘Corona del Mar High School’ in Newport Beach where she developed an interest in acting. In fact, she started attending auditions while she was still in school.
Leslie Mann decided against continuing with her college education since she had decided to pursue a career in acting following her appearance in commercials for brands like ‘Coke’ when she was still a teenager. She had also joined the ‘Joanne Baron Studio’ in order to study acting. She learned acting from the comedy troupe ‘The Groundlings.’

Leslie Mann had started auditioning for roles in movies. In the year 1995, she got her first big break when the casting directors of the film ‘The Cable Guy’ chose her from hundreds of candidates for the role of the female lead. The following year, she starred in the movie ‘George of the Jungle’ in a minor role.
Following her debut, Mann appeared in the movie ‘Freaks & Geeks’ in a guest role. In 1999, she was paired with comedy star Adam Sandler in the movie ‘Big Daddy’ which was a success.
