Jerma985 is from Boston, Massachusetts. His real name is apparently Jeremy Harrington, while he also goes by the names Jeremy Elbertson, Frank Ugly, or Jeremy A.

In 2018, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He has both Irish and Polish roots. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication.

After graduating, he started working as a freelance wedding videographer. He simultaneously worked as a substitute teacher.

Jerma985 launched his YouTube gaming channel in June 2011. His first video on the channel was apparently a clip titled TF2- Spy: Goldrush (First Commentary). He is known for his gameplay commentary on various games, such as Team Fortress 2 and GTA.

He initially played TF2 as the Spy. He started the Jermaverse with the clip titled Grandpa plays Insaniquarium. Jerma has, over the years, collaborated with several YouTubers, such as Ludwig Ahgren, MLC_St3alth, Boo, Kitboga, Shibby2142, Etalyx, and Ster. After posting the video Yearly Channel Doctor's Appointment, he switched his focus to his other channel, 2ndJerma, where he mostly posts his stream highlights.

Some his most-watched YouTube videos are: 700,000 Games, TF2 – Fat Guy Engie, and Silly Putty Car Circus! He has also voiced characters for several video games, such as Apotheon and Cryptark.

A talented animator, he has been part of movies such as Rat Movie and Rat Movie 2. He was part of CaptainSparklez's team at the Charity TF2 Mixup in 2013. His engagement-based streams on his Twitch channel have made him a star on the platform. He is part of the Voice Acting Club board of the Clubs & Crews NG Forum. He won the Best Streamed Event and League of Their Own awards at the 2022 Streamer Awards.

One of Jerma985’s August 2013 videos featured his niece, Harper. Jerma985 is an animal lover and has volunteered at an animal shelter.

Long back, he was known for his thick Boston accent. His peculiarly shaped nose is the result of an accident he faced long back. He apparently fell on a trampoline, and his knees hit his face.
