Imogen Poots is an English actress who came into limelight after playing the role of Tammy in the 2007 British science fiction horror film 28 Weeks Later. She has also played some eye-catching roles in movies like Jimi: All Is by My Side, The Look of Love, Need For Speed, and That Awkward Moment. Poots has made several appearances on television too, making her debut in the British medical drama series Casualty back in 2004. Although a very popular name among the young generation of actors in the United Kingdom and recognized as one of the "most desirable" women in 2013 in Askmen's list of the Top 99 Most Desirable Women, Imogen Poots was not initially interested in entering the show business. She wanted to become a veterinarian and even attended various workshops. However, she soon realized she was not suitable for the profession as she fainted during a veterinary surgery, unable to handle the sight. Thus, she dropped the idea of becoming a vet and proceeded to become an actress instead.

Imogen Poots made her acting debut on television in 2004 as Alice Thornton in the British medical television series Casualty; she appeared on just one episode of the show, Love Bites. Two years later, she made her film debut in a non-speaking role in the critically acclaimed dystopian political thriller film V for Vendetta. Her first big break came in 2007 when she was signed for the role of Tammy Harris in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s British science fiction horror film 28 Weeks Later.

After making a name for herself in the film, Imogen Poots did several lead roles in films during the late 2000s and early 2010s, some of them being Cracks as Poppy, Centurion as Arianne, Chatroom as Eva, and Fright Night as Amy Peterson. In 2013, she appeared in the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side as Linda Keith alongside André Benjamin, Hayley Atwell, and Burn Gorman. The same year, she appeared in another biopic The Look of Love on English publisher, club owner, and property developer Paul Raymond, and portrayed the character of Debbie Raymond, the daughter of Paul.

In 2014, Imogen Poots appeared in the American romantic comedy-drama film That Awkward Moment as Ellie Andrews alongside Zac Efron, Miles Teller, and Michael B. Jordan. She also acted in a film adaptation of the video game Need for Speed. Poots played the role of Julia Maddon and appeared alongside Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper.

Imogen Poots also has several other films on her resume, including the American horror-thriller film Green Room, and experimental drama film Knight of Cups. A much sought after actress, she appeared in the movie The Art of Self-Defense in 2019. In this film, she shared the screen space with fellow actors Jesse Eisenberg and Alessandro Nivola. The following year, she was seen in films like The Father and French Exit, playing Laura and Susan respectively.

Her father Trevor Poots is a current affairs television producer and her mother Fiona Goodall is a voluntary worker as well as a journalist. She has a brother named Alex Poots, a model by profession.

Imogen Poots attended Bute House Preparatory School for Girls, Queen's Gate School in South Kensington and Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith to complete her schooling. She started dating actor James Norton in 2018. In February 2022, Imogen Poots got engaged to James Norton.
