Bronson Pinchot is an American actor who is popularly known for portraying the character of ‘Balki Bartokomous’ in the television series ‘Perfect Strangers’. He also featured in the animated series ‘Bruno the Kid’ as a voice artist and later acted in TV shows like ‘Meego’ and ‘Step by Step’. He ran his own reality television show ‘The Bronson Pinchot Project’ and made special appearances in shows like ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, and ‘NCIS’. Apart from having a successful career on television, Pinchot is also known for being one of the most popular audiobook narrators. He has narrated over 100 audiobooks in his career and has been counted amongst the best voices in the ‘Fiction & Classics’ genre. He has also appeared in over thirty films, mostly in supporting roles. He has played important roles in films like ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, ‘Beverly Hills Cop III’, and ‘You and I’.

Bronson Pinchot made his acting debut on the silver screen in the early 1980s and appeared in a number of films within a few years. His first role of ‘Barry’ came in the 1983 coming-of-age American film ‘Risky Business’ which featured Tom Cruise in the lead role. In the next year, Pinchot appeared in the action comedy film ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, as ‘Serge’, alongside Eddie Murphy.
In 1985, Pinchot appeared in the sitcom ‘Sara’, as ‘Dennis Kemper’, marking his debut on television. His appearance in 13 episodes of the show earned him a regular role in another show the very next year. The makers of the ABC sitcom ‘Perfect Strangers’ roped him in for the lead role of ‘Balki Bartokomous’. The show ran for eight seasons between 1986 and 1993 and also featured Mark Linn-Baker, Melanie Wilson, Sam Anderson, Rebeca Arthur, and F.J. O'Neil in important roles. Pinchot was nominated at the 1987 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. This role established his credential as an actor in the TV industry and he went on to make numerous appearances in different TV shows in the ensuing years.
Pinchot appeared in many television shows throughout the 1990s. He featured in the sitcom ‘The Trouble with Larry’ as ‘Larry Burton’ for seven episodes and later appeared in shows like ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’, ‘The Langoliers’, ‘The Adventures of Hyperman’, and ‘High Society’. He voiced the character of ‘General Armando Castrato’ in the animated series ‘Bruno the Kid’ for 36 episodes. In the 1997 science fiction sitcom ‘Meego’, Pinchot appeared as the title character. The show was canceled after just six episodes and the rest of the seven episodes remained unaired. In the same year he played another important role, ‘Jean-Luc Rieupeyroux / Black Bart’, in the sitcom ‘Step by Step’. In the early 2010s, Pinchot appeared in his own reality television show titled ‘The Bronson Pinchot Project’. The home restoration show was aired on DIY Network and showcased Pinchot’s hobby of restoring damaged old houses using salvaged materials only.
Besides his successful stints on television, Pinchot has also appeared in popular films like ‘Beverly Hills Cop III’ and the critically acclaimed ‘The First Wives Club’. Pinchot, along with the rest of the cast, won the 1996 National Board of Review Award for the ‘Best Acting by an Ensemble’ for the latter. He has also been featured in over a hundred audiobooks as a narrator. The seller Audible.com chose him as the Narrator of the Year 2010 for his contributions.
