Adam Baldwin is an American actor who got into the Hollywood very early on in his life. He was barely in his teens when he was introduced to the world of acting. He started his career with the big screen and rose to fame as the troubled outcast Ricky Linderman in ‘My Bodyguard’ and moved on to bigger roles in ‘D.C. Cab’, ‘Full Metal Jacket’, ‘Predator 2’, ‘Independence Day’, ‘The Patriot’ and ‘Serenity’. He has been cast in more than 60 movies in his decade-long career. Baldwin is known to usually play the tough guy on the big screen, owing to his colossal structure and deep resonant voice. Apart from being an actor, he is a thorough sport. He had been an avid golf player. And as a pastime Baldwin enjoys mountain bike, bowling, frisbee and baseball. He also participates in celebrity hockey games. He has also contributed to many writing websites such as ‘Big Hollywood’ and ‘Huffington Post’. Another offshoot to his striking personality is his benevolent side. He has participated in the ‘Charity Ride 2 Recovery’, a Cycling Rehabilitation Program for the wounded soldiers.

Childhood & Early Life
Adam Baldwin was born on 27 February 1962 in Winnetka, Illinois. He did his schooling from the New Trier Township High School East in Winnetka.
Director Tony Bill discovered Baldwin while he was attending high school in Illinois and immediately casted him in the movie ‘My Bodyguard’ in 1980. The same year he was also cast as one of Timothy Hutton's swim teammates in Robert Redford's ‘Ordinary People’.

Career
Baldwin began his acting career in 1980 and debuted in the movie ‘My Bodyguard’ which shot him to immediate fame. In 1983, he starred in a low-rent comedy called ‘Cab’.
His next major role came after a considerable time. It was in 1987, when he played the ruthless sergeant Animal Mother in Stanley Kubrick film ‘Full Metal Jacket’.
Following ‘Full Metal Jacket’ he featured in films such as ‘Predator 2’ (1990) ‘Radio Flyer’ (1992), ‘How to Make an American Quilt’ (1995), ‘Independence Day’ (1996) and ‘The Patriot’ (2000)
By late 1990s most of his big-screen appearances were taking a beating, so the actor resorted to TV and became a cult favourite with recurring roles on The ‘X-Files’ and ‘Angel’, an enchanting portrayal in ‘Firefly’ and in its movie spin-off, ‘Serenity’.His first major television role came in 1996, when he joined the cast of the short-lived series ‘The Cape’
Baldwin then joined the cast of two short-lived action dramas, ‘The Inside’ and ‘Day Break’.
In 2007, he joined the cast of the NBC spy comedy ‘Chuck’, where he played tough-as-nails, NSA agent ‘John Casey’.
After five seasons of ‘Chuck’, he moved on to do guest roles in ‘Castle’, ‘Leverage’ and ‘Law and Order’.
Presently, Baldwin is part of the TNT series, ‘The Last Ship’ as ‘XO Mike Slattery’

Baldwin’s maiden movie ‘My Bodygaurd’ directed by Tony Bill in 1980 is a comedy-drama, which brought instant recognition to Adam Baldwin. His acting abilities were highly appreciated for portraying the character of alienated Ricky Linderman.
He got his early fame in ‘Full Metal Jacket’ as ‘Animal Mother’ in 1987. This was directed by Stanley Kubrick. The story is set during the Vietnam war and it entails experiences of two of the platoon's Marines and the film’s titles refers to the full metal jacket bullet used by infantry riflemen.
Baldwin acquired a cult status, when he starred in television series ‘Firefly’ which is an American Space Western Drama Television Series created by Writer and Director Joss Whedon. Firefly premiered in the US around 2002.
Another major work was his appearance in the movie ‘Serenity’ in 2005. The movie is continuation of the sci-fi television series ‘Firefly’ and has the same cast. The movie begins after the events of final episode of ‘Firefly’.

In 2006, Baldwin bagged the SyFy Genre Award for the category of Best Supporting Actor/Television for his role in the TV Series ‘Firefly’
Personal Life & Legacy
He married fellow actress Ami Julius in 1988 with whom he has three children, two daughters and one son.
Trivia
He has no relation to the Baldwin brothers Alec Baldwin, Daniel Baldwin, William Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin, who are from Long Island, New York. It is often mistaken that they are related because of the similar surname they share.
He worked as a truck-driver at some point in his life.
